• I ended up getting a few free Giants ticket last night through one of my very gratious co-workers. I had planned to go to the game anyway, as Schmidt was on the mound. None of my friends could make it, so i ended up calling my brother. He snapped the pair up quick and I met up with him and his future wife. I ended up grabbing a few beers at my favorite pre-game bar, not surprisingly I ran into Niki, the sister of a guy in the class ahead of me at Crystal Springs. She was a few years behind me, i think. Shes old enough to bartend now, so that makes me old! I was actually more focused on the other female bartender, a brunette from Boston whose fish (named after Pedro Martinez) got eaten by one of her other fish! Its a fish-eat-fish world i guess. Had a few beers, ended up running into my neighbor Kevin who was chatting with Larry and Tammy in front of the Mays statue. The guy who usually brings the Ks for our section wasn’t there, so i just ended up sitting in the bleachers with my bro. Thanks for the beers Larry! Too bad the 8th and 9th inning were painful. You’d think a 6-1 lead would hold up……not as painful as Game 6, 2002 WS, but close………

An interesting weekend ahead….more on that soon……

• I am king of the commute.

Thanks to Caltrain’s new Baby Bullet trains, if I miss my first
train up to the City in the morning, I can hop on the second train (20
minutes later), switch trains at Millbrae, and wait for the
Bullet which goes around train #2 at Bayshore, and shaves 10
minutes off my commute. I have a few similar tricks in the
evening, one where i can even take an express train past my
burlingame stop to san mateo, switch trains then one minute later take
a train back up to burlingame, which would get me in 3 minutes before
my usual train (which i’d take at 5:47 from the City.)
Confusing? Maybe for the commute novice, but you have to
know your options sometimes!

• The fact that this blog is coming from the laundromat should frighten
you. You can’t escape wireless internet these days.
Its everywhere. I think there are seven people who live in my
apartment building, but nine wireless routers. For a
while, I had trouble with interference and was getting a spotty
signal from a 802.11g IN THE NEXT ROOM. The wireless here
is a bit spotty…..they’ve got a wired connection but i didn’t bring
my cable. I just wanted to test whether i could listen to Mr. KABC while i waited for my
laundry to finish. Alas, Can’t hold the stream. I only have 11.5
gigs of music, so as long as it doesn’t take six days for my laundry to
dry, I should be able to find something to listen to…..I
haven’t bought an ipod yet. My laptop and clie cover those
bases. Besides, i’m saving up for a new Cinema Display, Airport Express,
and iSight.

I fixed my sink disposal today. Well, I hit the reset button on
it, but it works now and we should all celebrate even our
smallest of accomplishments.

• What a great weekend. Its always fun when you’re at the
ballpark cheering on your team. Yesterday was a beautiful day at
SBC Park, home of the surging San Francisco Giants. I was
back in 152, my season ticket section, hanging out and
putting up the K’s for Jason Schmidt. Schmidty threw an
absolute gem, 9 K’s, and a one-hit complete game
shutout. Wow! Not quite as good (strikeout-wise) as
his 12 K performance last monday night but all-around Schmidt had
better control against a better team. The Red Sox didn’t stand a
chance yesterday. Funny note…..after a semi-botched call
by the umpires, some idiotic Red Sox fans in standing-room yelled
out, “those refs are full of……thats an out at Fenway.”
Total morons, i won’t even go into that, but after a clear foul
ball in the right field corner, I sarcastically yelled out,
“thats a homer at Fenway!” Our K crew seems to be
semi-official now as we’ve made the scoreboard the last two
games……woohoo!

Go France in Euro 2004!

• yikes. its been almost a month.

so i was at the safeway last night, doing the shopping thing. as i stroll through the aisles, my eye catches on a six pack of pepsi which is kickin’ it in the beer section. i think to myself, i haven’t seen a 6-pack of pepsi in a while, something is odd here. i take a closer look. pepsi edge. my first thought….oh my god, pepsi has made an alcohol-cola. not quite. turns out pepsi edge (and coke’s c2) are low-sugar/carb entries into the cola biz. they have half the calories of regular pepsi and coke.
now if you look at the pepsi lineup they have:

diet pepsi (12 oz): 0 calories
pepsi one (12 oz): 1 calories
pepsi edge (12 oz): 75 calories
pepsi (12 oz): 150 calories

i tried coke’s equiv to pepsi edge, last night…..i’m not sure if its a diet coke with more flavor or a watered down regular coke. i’ll stick to my diet mt dew / sugarfree redbull morning mix, which i call the rocket. :)

• Have no fear kiddies, i have recovered from my cold.

Its been a crazy week with volunteering and baseball and such. As well as putting in a lot of hours at work, both at the office and a little bit at home.

Since i haven’t been able to hook up my photo-blog to this page yet, i will have to do things manually for the near future. Here are some snaps from Wednesdays Giants-Phillies game, from my season ticket seat. Not a bad view, don’t you think? I apology for the blurriness of these pics, they were taken with my Sony Clie TJ-37 PDA.

• Well, some things just don’t always go as planned. Towards the end of last week, i starting to develop some sort of chest cold, so a lot of my planned “fun” events on my schedule turned to nights of sleep. I think i’m towards the tail end of whatever i had, since i’ve been flooding it with vitamins and hot tea. Vegas is about a month away, so i’m going to try to hit the gym every other day. At 5 in the morning, since thats the the easiest hour to schedule in my life these days.

Thats the plan……we’ll see how it goes.

April 21, 2004

• Since when have i been this busy? Through an old friend from college, i got invited to the SF Rotoract meeting, where I happened to run into Erin, this girl I used to work with at Celerity. It is a small world after all, and from what it sounds like, Rotary is working to make it a better place. I definitely dig the whole international vibe that they’ve got going and the people i met seem cool. The next meeting is in a couple weeks, so i’m sure i’ll check it out again.

On tap for the rest of the week…….baseball game tomorrow night, my friend’s band from chicago playin thurs/fri, volunteering saturday night at a beer festival (proceeds go to charity), and who knows what else…….oh yeah, one of my fraternity bros is in town for business so i’ve gotta try to meet up with him as well……somewhere in the midst of all of this, i will hopefully get some sleep!

April 13, 2004

• The less sleep i get, the more refreshed I seem to be in the morning.

So i’m on the train last night about to leave the station and I
think, hey I should call my friend CJ and make plans to go to
lunch with her this week. With my train mere seconds away from
leaving, she manages to convince me to meet up with her in North
Beach. Turns out to be a mini reunion from high school as Jess is there too. I
admit it was crazy hanging out with them since i hadn’t seen either of
them in oh…seven years or so. We grabbed drinks and
dinner, then headed over to a different bar to hear CJ’s friends’
band play. They weren’t bad, and hey, any band that
covers Ween’s “Voodoo Lady” is all good in my book.

Didn’t get to say goodbye, had to leave in order to catch
the train…….i’m sure i’ll be hanging out with that crowd sooner
rather than later…….

• Turns out my fiddling didn’t really improve my net connectivity at all. I didn’t fry the router, but i didn’t solve the regular dropping of signal either. Bought a new router for fifty off amazon, as long as this one lasts until friday i should be okay. I start work tomorrow so all i need is just the ability to download my mail and make a few fantasy baseball changes.

WiFi is becoming too pervasive, besides mine, i can see four or five other networks from my apartment with MacStumbler. Yikes! I’m about 97 percent convinced that those networks aren’t the cause of my problems, but i’ll know for sure once my new router is installed.
